Grant Street Group announced the introduction of Apple Pay as a payment option for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). Ohio residents can now use their Apple Pay accounts for various services, including vehicle registrations, driver training courses, and driver’s license and ID online reprints through BMV Online Services.
As digital payment methods like Apple Pay and PayPal gain prominence, it is vital for government entities to provide customers with secure, flexible payment options that meet the diverse needs of their customers. By offering Apple Pay, the Ohio BMV was among the first statewide motor vehicle agencies to embrace this widely used service. Within the first month of implementation, over 10,000 BMV transactions were conducted through Apple Pay, underscoring the interest of residents.

This launch illustrates our ongoing dedication to pursuing innovative ways to best serve our customers. BMV is committed to continuing our work with Grant Street to offer the latest in convenience and technology to Ohioans,” said Charlie Norman, Ohio Registrar of Motor Vehicles.
The Ohio BMV began using PaymentExpress in 2016, a partnership that brought EMV (chip) card technology to the BMV’s 192 Deputy Registrar offices. The collaboration with Grant Street Group has since expanded, focusing on innovative solutions to bring BMV services online and improve the customer experience in the office through the latest technology.
